^Lot 344 Arkham House Publishing Medallion

Prepared in 2012 by the Arkham House these medallions were presented to the author and illustrator of each book published depending on the imprint used for the book. Features a black house with a couple of windows, and the initials A and H in red. This logo was designed by Frank Utpatel for August Derleth and Donald Wandrei when they founded the Specialty Publishing Company, to collect the works of Howard P. Lovecraft whose stories had been lingering in the pulp magazine in the 1930s. Derleth also created M&M (Mycroft [Sherlocks' smarter older brother] and Moran [Sebastian Moran, the second most dangerous man in London]) to collect Mysterious Fiction including the Adventures of Solar Pons. Derleth received threats from Conan Doyle estate to abandon the Solar Pons character (Bridge of light) but Derleth politely told Conan Doyle's two sons to put it where the son doesn't shine. This medallion is no longer issued, thus making it quite a collector's item.
